911 Telecommunicators are the first responders in missing children cases, playing a critical, life-saving role as the link between a missing child and their safe return. This interactive course will equip telecommunicators with the essential skills and resources needed to manage these high-stakes situations. By analyzing real cases, learn to recognize the various types of missing children incidents and how they are reported. Through call analysis and scenario-based learning, explore optimal practices, utilizing NCIC, APCO, and ANSI systems and standards. Additionally, the course focuses on resilience-building strategies to support the telecommunicator’s mental health in these emotionally demanding cases.

Upon completion of this training, you will develop capabilities to: * Comprehend the critical role 911 Telecommunicators play as the first responder to a missing child incident. * Examine the different types of missing children cases and how they are reported to dispatch. * Identify and implement optimal practices through NCIC, APCO, and ANSI systems and standards. * Recognize mental health challenges specific to 911 Telecommunicators and develop resilience building strategies to manage stress correctly. * Engage in hands on interactive activities through scenario based learning to improve your performance and practice what you have learned.

There is NO FEE to attend this training; however, pre-registration is required. The deadline to register is July 21, 2025. Registrations will still be accepted after this date based on your qualifications to attend and if seats are still available. Tuition, student materials, and instructional costs are provided by the AMBER Alert Training & Technical Assistance Program. Approval to attend this training is subject to the approval of the host agency as well as your qualifications submitted on your registration.

Comprehend the vital role the 911 Telecommunicator plays in missing children cases. | Identify the different types of missing children incidents which occur and critical components of each. | Analyze actual 911 calls and comprehend how missing children reports and cases typically begin.
Examine 6 critical components of the NCIC Missing Person File. | Apply the extensive capabilities of the NCIC system to missing children investigations.
Recognize APCO/ANSI optimal practices for handling missing children calls/entries. | Plug in and listen to actual calls and apply what you have learned.
Identify resources which are accessible and crucial to managing missing children calls, records, and cases.
Identify stressors and mental health challenges for 911 Telecommunicators. | Develop and practice coping strategies and resilience skills. | Access resources available and implement support systems.
Final questions will be discussed. Required post-course activities will be explained, including how course evaluations and certificates of attendance will be processed.
